From Sponsored Child to Cum Laude Graduate

"Her story could have ended at Grade 10. Today, she is a Cum Laude graduate."

`    Coming from a family of nine, Riza Diez faced financial challenges throughout her college journey. With her father working as a hotel cook and her mother managing the household while serving as a community volunteer, meeting the family's daily needs and educational expenses was not always easy. Despite these difficulties, Riza remained determined to finish her studies and pursue her dream of becoming a teacher.

Through the support of SPECS Foundation's Educational Sponsorship Program, Riza was able to continue her education at Philippine Normal University, where she pursued a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. With perseverance, dedication, and her family's support, she excelled in her studies and graduated Cum Laude, earning a general average of 1.42 during her final semesters.

Today, Riza is taking the next step toward her dream. She works part-time as an online ESL teacher while preparing for the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers. She hopes to inspire young learners and help improve her family's financial situation.

Riza's achievement is a testament to her hard work and determination, as well as the meaningful impact of educational sponsorship. Through the support of SPECS Foundation and its sponsors, Riza received valuable assistance in pursuing her education and building a brighter future.

Her story reminds us that when we support a student's education, we help create opportunities that can change not only one life but also the future of a family. 💚
